The centre of the pulsing city is home to the hip Kelly’s Hotel. After much of his own travelling Declan O’Regan opened this laid-back and affordable hotel for the “free-style traveller”, in which the typical, somewhat old-fashioned “folklore” style doesn’t stand a chance. Raw stone walls, wooden floorboards, simple materials and minimalist room decoration make for an urban authenticity which is rarely found in today’s Dublin. Guests from the film and creative industries, or the worlds of fashion and design will be thankful! The small, simple rooms are minimal and tasteful. The hotel is not always the quietest place during the night, but then, a little noise is part and parcel of a good nightlife. And those less interested in sleep have options too – the “secret bar”, directly connected to the hotel, is easy to reach for a whisky or gin & tonic. The O’Regans’ hotel concept includes two bars and one restaurant, a fact this brings with it a small disadvantage: namely, guests can expect a rather average breakfast at the hotel’s Restaurant l’Gueuleton around the corner.
